Bahas, Gramatidis & Partners Law Firm is Legal Advisor to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund in the major project “Renovation of Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (ΟΑΚΑ)”. The project aims to repair, maintain and improve the operating efficiency of the ΟΑΚΑ, to extend its useful life, upgrade its facilities and reduce its running cost to result in a safe, operational and sustainable athletics and leisure destination.

The project aims to repair, maintain and improve the operating efficiency of the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (ΟΑΚΑ) to extend its useful life, upgrade its facilities and reduce its running cost to result in a safe, operational and sustainable athletics and leisure destination. The project is mainly funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility Agency.

The Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) is one of the most complete European sports complexes. The Main Olympic Stadium was designed in 1979 and inaugurated in 1982 to host the European Athletic Championships. For the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, the Athletic Centre was redesigned and expanded to accommodate the necessary athletic facilities.

The renovation and upgrade of the facilities are considered essential to contribute to minimising carbon emissions and creating a modern athletic hub that adds to the regeneration of its surrounding area.

The project will consist of the following:

• Inspection and maintenance/repair/replacement of the steel structures and the polycarbonate sheets of the roof structures,

• Maintenance, upgrade and works which contribute to the reduction in energy consumption of the relevant facilities and the urban realm,

• Study for the sustainable development of the existing facilities.

The project is implemented through the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan “Greece 2.0” framework with European Union funding – NextGenerationEU.
