Forest Protection Plan
Bahas, Gramatidis & Partners Law Firm is Legal Advisor to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund in the “Forest Protection Plan” of the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the Greek Ministry of Environment & Energy. The project aims to implement the required fire protection actions in immediate high priority areas, to protect the country’s forest ecosystems.
Τhe “Forest Protection Plan” aims to implement the required fire protection actions in immediate high priority areas, as suggested by the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the Ministry of Environment & Energy to protect the country’s forest ecosystems from fires in 2022. Forests provide a wide range of ecosystem services (such as ensuring water quality, preventing soil erosion, preventing floods, conserving biodiversity, etc.). Moreover, they are critically essential for the well-being of current and future generations.
The Plan, over the actions that require immediate implementation, such as forest – forested land-cleaning work, forest road network maintenance, and forest fire zones’ maintenance, also includes other longer-term planning actions, such as preparing the forest fire protection plans for 38 crucial country-wide forest ecosystems.
The Forest Protection Plan is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The project is implemented through the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan “Greece 2.0” framework with European Union funding – NextGenerationEU.
