Overview

Aviation is one of the firm’s longstanding sector strengths. For more than three decades, we have advised international aircraft lessors, airlines, financial institutions, investors and aviation-related businesses on Greek-law matters connected with aircraft finance, leasing, operations and market entry. Our clients in the sector have included leading international aircraft lessors such as AerCap, SMBC Aviation Capital, Avolon and Carlyle Aviation, as well as major airlines including United Airlines.

We are regularly instructed on the Greek-law aspects of cross-border aviation finance and operating structures, including aircraft leasing, acquisitions, registrations, security arrangements, sale and leaseback transactions, receivables structures and local law issues arising from lease arrangements with Greek carriers. Our role is often to provide focused Greek counsel within wider international transactions, ensuring that local registration, security, regulatory and enforceability issues are properly addressed.

We also advise aviation clients on the wider commercial and regulatory environment in Greece, including licensing, authority engagement, operational contracts, airport and aviation infrastructure matters, regulatory compliance, disputes, enforcement and risk management. This work draws on the firm’s finance, corporate, regulatory, tax, employment, public law and disputes experience, allowing us to support aviation clients across both transactional and operational matters.

We also handle aviation-related matters where the sector intersects with infrastructure, defence, technology, public procurement, insurance and complex commercial contracting.
