About
Popi Papantoniou is a Counsel at Bahas, Gramatidis & Partners and leads the firm’s Data Protection & Digital Law practice. A Supreme Court lawyer with more than two decades of experience, she advises Greek and international clients across two complementary areas: corporate, commercial, consumer law and e-commerce on the one hand, and data protection, technology and AI law on the other. Within her Corporate & Commercial practice, she handles the entire corporate lifecycle alongside high-stakes commercial contracting. She regularly advises on complex legal due diligence reviews and negotiates demanding corporate acquisitions and commercial agreements, including lease and finance arrangementd for global market leaders.
Representative transactions include the acquisition of E-Learning Industry by Docebo, the merger of the Cooperative Bank of Central Macedonia with Pancreta Bank and the strategic spin-off of Samsung’s printer division to HP. In the energy sector, she led the due diligence on the €345 million sale of a 50 per cent RES portfolio for Enel and has provided legal oversight to Attica Bank on complex RES project financing. For global retail and FMCG brands — including Mango, Camper, Golden Goose, Mars Hellas and Royal Canin — she oversees retail network development, commercial leasehold portfolios, pricing and distribution strategies, and the legal management of digital B2B and B2C platforms.
Her data-protection practice carries a distinct regulatory and advisory weight. She advises companies, organisations and individuals across the full lifecycle of GDPR compliance — from product and service development, data-processing agreements, international data transfers and data-subject access requests through to privacy policies, employee monitoring, cookie and online-tracking frameworks, data-breach response and enforcement proceedings before the Hellenic Data Protection Authority and the courts. She also counsels clients on NIS2, the evolving AI Act and broader digital-transformation projects covering cloud computing, IoT and AI systems. In the e-commerce sphere, she advises on online marketing, social-network data practices, e-signatures, consumer cancellation and withdrawal rights, and the structuring of digital B2C platforms.
She serves as Greek Correspondent for DataGuidance and Thomson Reuters on privacy issues and has contributed to Greek legal textbooks on the law of Sociétés Anonymes in collaboration with Professors of Commercial Law. Clients value her ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, commercially workable solutions — and to do so with the speed and precision that product launches, transactions and enforcement deadlines demand.
